i would have given this book five stars however the ending ruined it for me. hensec my head line i mean what was this author thinking when she wrote it was she hating relationships??? spoilers .....who would write a book about a mob boss and senitor then end it that way it was out there in left field didnt see that one coming i really hope the author sees this review and any others like it and redoes the ending just the epiloge if i were to reread this book however i really dont think i will. i will not include the epiloge i will end it better in my head. the way this ended there really was no way of seeing it i mean she talks about her dad but really if she wanted
(SPOILER>>>>>>>>) the h to die then she could have done it by one of her compition or something i dont agree with the heart problem right when she agrees to marry him . i reenterrate what the heck was she thinking.
END SPOILER-----i really liked the h in this book she is strong and dosent take crap from anyone. the H in this is sensitive but manly at the same time there really couldnt be a better H in a story or man in real life for that matter. would i recomend this book only if the ending is redone. it was a good book but the ending just threw me from it. i guess if you dont mind a half assed ending then read it you will enjoy it i guess. i really dont like leaving bad reviews cause other people may let that decide weather they want to read it, but with this one i had to amd im sorry.

This is the second book I've read by this author and I have enjoyed both. This one is about a mob boss who happens to be female and for being a female she is pretty tough until she meets the senator at which point she's balancing her position in the mob with her growing affection for the senator. The whole time I was reading the book I was wondering who her betrayer would be because as we all know there's no trust in the mob. The ending of the book was bittersweet and rather than spoil a good story I'll just say sit back and enjoy!
I LOVED Frankie, the female lead and mob boss. She comes up with some fantastic comments like, "I'm not Snow- (swear word) WHITE!" It was really fun to read such a different and unique character in a book. This book was recommended to me as I am known for my love of a steamy read. "My life for yours" has some seriously hot sex in it, - but the plot was still there, making me turn the pages. Recommended to people who want action/ suspense in their romance.
I cann't believe this is the same author who wrote the "Hit 149" series. This story has no substance,nothing to really sink your teeth into. The storyline was poor, the characters dull,dialogue juevenile,repeative sex boring and to many old cliches. Frankie's portrayal of a Mafia Boss wasn't strong or forceful enough. I found her to be vain and always horny, Jermey was playing the part of Pavlov's dog salviating everytime Frankie wiggled her behind. After reading"Blood Ties That Bind" by April Ezell Wilson my standards for a Mafia stories are very high, this one fell short.(
The book had potential. I just struggled with it, I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I love strong female characters, so of our course a female mob boss should be like Christmas morning for me. But I just didn't feel it. I only felt a sexual connection between the two main characters, and even that felt pushed. The epilogue was a hard, and I don't need a pretty little wrapped up HEA, but this one just felt like it was written for some kind of shock value.
**** I should add I skimmed some of the book, so maybe there was more connection that I just didn't see. ****
So I was hoping to enjoy this book more. There were only a few things that I didn't like, but it made the world of difference.
SPOILER - SPOILER - SPOILER
So the book would have been way more enjoyable for me if there was more of a set-up between Frankie and Jeremy in the beginning. They literally bumped into each other and then had sex within an hour. I'm not saying that that scene is even that far-fetched, but maybe if Jeremy had said more than, "I want to f**** you", it would have been more believable to me. I did like Jeremy for the most part, but at times he seemed a little too sensitive. I don't know, something just seemed off with him at a few points in the book. But by the end, I warmed up to him and liked him a lot more. I really liked Frankie and her character, and she was interesting to follow throughout the story. The sex scenes were hot, but because Frankie and Jeremy's relationship didn't really seem strong to me, the sex scenes felt like they were lacking something at times. I enjoyed the plot of the book and the idea that the author was pursuing, but there were just a few technical errors.
Just OK... but the Epilogue was OUT OF THIS WORLD!
This was a conflicting book for me. I liked the storyline but I hated Frankie's "bad ass" attitude. It was just kind of annoying. I'm Love a strong heroin in a book but she was crude and rude. The whole mob talk stuff was just to casual although I guess if you are in the Mob then it would just be apart of everyday conversation. And some of Frankie's threats...had me shaking in my boots.
"The Senator"...a.k.a. Jeremy. was ok. I liked his dominating side but that didn't really fit the same picture as the Jeremy crying non stop in the hospital bed because of his mom. and I HATED how he called her "Darling"...hated it. Darling is a soft term of endearment and Frankie was anything but soft. It was just an out of place term to use for her.
Ok all in all I would have given this book maybe 2 stars but the damn EPILOGUE. Holy moly I was bawling like a baby. Those few pages earned this book at least one extra star. I cannot believe it ended like that. I just can't. It was so out of left field and I was left shocked. Those last few pages totally made up for anything bad I have said about this book. It was just...sad!
